YOUNG WOMAN OF CHINA
Young Woman of China’ is a four acre earthwork created on a hillside in Mile China- Yunnan Provence in SW China, home to most of China’s ethnic minority population. After an invitation to travel there last year I suggested this work as one in my series of earthworks of young Indigenous women. this would be a companion piece to the work I will create in Brazil and going back to my portrait of Carole Cadue the Kickapoo woman created back in Kansas in 1992 which was the origin of this series.
The earthwork is the center piece of an 800 acre park called ‘Ya Ji’ which will include Hotels, vacation houses, Equestrian Center, a Museum and a Herd Gallery along with dozens of other highlights.
